| Show Juvenile Court Referrals Heavy During calendar year 1969 a total of juveniles in Utah went before the Juvenile Court for action concerning their behavior and resulting custody Just over half of the juveniles came to court directly from their own homes while the rest were retained in a detention center or shelter shelter shelter shel shel- ter care home until their time in court Referrals do donot donot donot not include traffic violations of approximately juve juve- niles COURT ACTIONS returned percent of the juveniles to their own homes in the custody of their parents Only 14 percent were referred referred referred refer refer- red to the State Industrial School and the remaining 87 percent were referred to the Utah Division of Family Services Of the 1046 juveniles juveniles juve juveniles juve- juve niles referred d to Family Services Services Services ices during 1969 39 percent were placed in group homes 37 percent received services in ui their own homes 14 percent were placed in foster homes 5 percent in adoptive homes and and 5 percent went to homes of relatives |
