Show (DMttiinaiirnBg Deil Gordon Deil Gordon, a life-long resident of the Park City area, died Nov. 25 at his home in Silver Creek. He was 63. He was born on Aug. 9, 1921 in Park City to John Jennings Gordon and Mary Jane Noakes Gordon. His mother died in childbirth at the time. His father raised the family until he was killed in a mine accident about five years later. The Gordon children were taken in by a relative, Reva Richardson, and raised as her own. Deil worked in the mines from age 18 until he retired in the mid-1970s, said his step brother, Robert Richardson. He married Beth Atkinson on June 12, 1941 in Provo. He was a member of the LDS church and a World War II veteran. After retirement, he built his own house in the Silver Creek area. Nephew Robert Pokey Richardson recalled he build a solid house using old mi.ie timbers. "It could take a direct hit with a nuclear bomb," he said. He also made doll houses and small log houses that were used as planters. His family told him he should enter the log-house replicas in the Park City Art Festival, said Pokey Richardson, but he preferred to give them away to relatives. Deil also enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking, said brother Robert-. He is survived by his wife, of Silver Creek; children Deil Kay Gordon (Kamas). Mrs. Robert (Paula) Thomason (Park City), Mrs. Joe (Sharlene) Cottis (Dale City, Virginia), and Don Kip Gordon (Salt Lake); stepmother Reva Richardsim (Heber City); siblings Ferrol Gordon and Don Richardson (both Rock Springs, Wyoming), Robert Richardson (Park City), and Mrs. Ted (Wanda) Mann and Mrs. Wilma Reno (both Henderson, Nevada); 14 grandchildren ; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Snyderville Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Park City Cemetery. |
