Show Running ClubJNews by Pat Manning ' The Park City Running Club "got off the mark" so to speak this past Thursday with their first meeting. Headed by Pat Manning and Bob Wikinson, the group sat down to business and outlined outlin-ed some of the goals and objectives they would like to see achieved 26 people attended the get-together and freely exchanged ideas on running and running related activities. The most commonly mentioned men-tioned reasons for joining the club were to fill the needs for companionship and to be supported in their own running. There is a wide variety of interest amongst the group as well. It ranged from running to fit into my clothes all the way up to marathon training and participating parti-cipating in the Ride and Tie event. Many of the members have years of experience on the road which will aid some of those that are just getting started in the sport. The club is designed to funnel all forms of information to .its members at meed' y& ' t i ''" scheduled workouts. This might include such items as upcoming races in the area, training tips and medical advice. The first "fun-run" this past Sunday provided the Park City Running Club with the opportunity to get out and run as a group. Several autos slowed down and honked as they passed a bit bewildered at the spectacle. What could these 19 people , be doing at 9:00 a.m.? What else? Running for the fun of it. i The morning was capped off by a healthy brunch at Rolf Sandberg's and some full-winded conversation. Special thanks to Sandra Sweeney for putting together the first roster for the Park City Running Club and to Dr. Bob Evers in leading the group through the workout. One of the really nice compliments about this group is that regardless of background or occupation they are open and friendly to one another. And why shouldn't ;ey,-te? Jl?ey, all |
