Show Official Letter of Resignation Presented to School Board Dear President Avise & Board Members: For some time now there has been speculation and rumor relative to what my plans were to be for the future as a part of the Park City School District. When I came to the district, almost nine years ago, the Utah State Legislature was actively involved in an attempt to consolidate and reorganize the school districts in Summit County. I immediately became involved in the action and worked hard that year and subsequent years to comply with the will of the constituents of the Park City School District to retain the district as a separate entity. I , further worked very closely with the Park City Board of Education as well as the Board of Education of the South Summit School District, the Summit County Commissioners, the Utah State Legislature, the bond and legal counsel and others, in attempting to alter the boundary line between the two school districts. After five years of work, we were successful when the citizens of the Park City School District voted 88 percent in favor of assuming some of the bonded indebtedness of South Summit School District in order to provide the constituents in the Thaynes Canyon, Park Meadows, Holiday. Ranch and Prospector Square areas the right of franchise in order to vote for Board of Education members in the school district in which the students attended school. For the past eight and a half years, I have been immersed in trying to comply with the requests of the citizens through their elected Board of Education in a major building program within the Park City School District, including bond elections, sales and refinancing. Some two years ago, I contemplated leaving this position, but was encouraged to remain in the capacity to try to complete the planning and development develop-ment of the new middle school. We have now replaced all existing school buildings with new modern academic oriented facilities. I have had the distinct privilege of working with principals and staff members who are dedicated and devoted to students and their academic achievement. We have, through our mutual efforts, upgraded the educational opportunities at the Park City School District. I compliment Board of Education members, administrators, administra-tors, teachers, Park City School Community Council members and others who have had an active part in helping to accomplish those objectives. I've had, in my tenure as Superintendent of Schools, the opportunity of working with many divers Boards and Board members. mem-bers. One thing all have had in common was dedication and devotion devo-tion to providing quality education for the Park City School District students. I compliment, congratulate, congratu-late, and thank them for the hours devoted with little remuneration. For the past year or so I have assessed the opportunities and future of the Park City School District and my own commitments to continuing as Superintendent of Schools. I have reached that point in my professional career when I feel that a professional change may not only be good for me as a person, as well as my family, but for the district as well. It is therefore with some mixed emotions that I submit this letter of resignation effective at the conclusion of this contract year. Please know that I stand ready and willing to assist in the orderly transition in the administration of the district and will provide whatever assistance and help I can during the remaining portion of my time on the job. I wish the district well. My sincere hope is that it continue in its goal to always be one of the finest districts in the state of Utah. Thank you again on behalf of myself, my wife and my family.
