Show LDS Church Announces New Bishops Bishop Harold R. Sorenson has been called as Bishop of the Mt. View Ward. His counselors will be Brother Max Greenhalgh, 1st counselor coun-selor and Brother Gene Chantry, 2nd Counselor. Bishop Sorenson was born and raised in Montpelier, Idaho. His parents are Charles and Amelia Sorenson. Soren-son. He graduated from Montpelier Mont-pelier high school and then served four years during World War Two in the Naval Cont. Ballistics. Bishop Sorenson married Teddy Pierce of American Fork and they are the parents of twin sons Ronnie and Roger and have six grandchildren. Some of the Church positions posi-tions Bishop Sorenson has held include Elders Ouorum Presidency, Sunday School President, High Priest Group Leaders, miny teaching positions po-sitions and on the Kamas Utah Stake High Council. In 1981 Bishop Sorenson and his wife Teddy served a mission for the LDS (Jlhurch on the Blood Blackfeet Indian Reserve in Alberta Canada. Bishop Sorenseon was the first LDS Missionary to ' be made an honorary chief. , Sorenson owned a wholesale whole-sale distributing company of health and beauty aids- and sundries. He retired in 1981 Brother Max Greenhalgh. has been called as First Counselor in the Mt. View Ward Bishopric. Max was born and raised in Orem, Utah. He is the son of Blaine and Nina Greenhalgh. He has a masters degree from BYU in public administration. adminis-tration. He married Sherree Zamu-dil Zamu-dil and they are expecting their first child. Some of the church positions posi-tions Brother Greenhalgh has held include Stake High Council, Elder's Quorum President twice, BYU branch presidency. Greenhalgh served a mission mis-sion to Brazil North. He is Director of Planning for Bagley Enterprises and Co. in Salt Lake City, Utah. Brother Greenhalgh has been active in civic affairs having served as planning director for Summit County, Rep. mass meeting chairman, chair-man, Director of the Red Cross Blood drive in the Park City area. When he finds a little extra time Max loves to work at improving their home, reading read-ing a good book listening to great music, skiing and riding horses. Brother Gene Chantry has been called as Second Counselor in the Mt. View Ward Bishopric. Chantry was born and raised in San Bernardino, Calif. His parents are Joseph Eldon and Eva Ardell Farn-worth Farn-worth Chantry. He graduated gradu-ated from Chafee Union High School, attended one year of school at Mt. San Antonio College in Calif., and attended war college of the Navy. His military service included includ-ed four years with the U.S. Air Froce and 21 years with the Navy. Brother Chantry married Bonnie Joan Fielding. They are the parents of eight children and have eight (almost) grandchildren. Some of the church positions posi-tions Brother Chantry has held include Stake YM . President, Sunday School president, High Priest Quorum Quor-um instructor and served a two year stake mission in California. Chantry has been active in civic affairs having served as Fire Chief in Summit Park, on the Zoning Council for Summit County, is a member of Home Owners, past chairman of Utah Engineering Engineer-ing Council, and past chairman chair-man of American Society of Quality Control Brother Chantry's hobby is a rather interesting one. he . enjoys going out to dinner with his wife. |
