Show Tune-up tourney to open league basketball season All Julius Ervings of Park City be forewarned the deadline for registering your team for the 1984 men's basketball league is screaming towards you like a fast break. The deadline is next Thursday, Dec. 1. For those who make it before the buzzer, a tune-up tournament will be held on Dec. 7, 9 and 14 to get players ready for league action which begins Monday, Jan. 9. So you've been telling your friends that your gorilla dunks make Daryl Dawkins look like a hairdresser. Then why not join the league to show the public? It won't be free, but it'll be worth it. Entry fee is a $230 per team, plus there is a $5 individual fee for each : player on the roster. Of course, sponsorships are hoped . for. Eligibility? As long as you live within the corporate limits of Park City you need only fork over the $5 individual fee if you can get a team sponsor, But for : , those outside the city limits, another $5 is in order. A foreign tariff of sorts. , - And since Magic Johnson cannot lend his magic to more than one team, neither can you. Only register with one team. And after week two of the season there will be no free agent re-entry draft. In other words, no new players will be admitted to the league after that time. - All of this season's games will be played at the Treasure Mountain Middle School in front of at least 10,000 screaming fans. Games will begin on Jan. 9 and will continue on each Monday and Wednesday night. Game times are 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 8:30 p.m.. And because all of you Park City guys look the same, uniforms are required. Only jerseys are necessary, but the numbers must be easy to read. There will be no mistaken identity at the foul line. Rules will be of a high school variety, modified slight y. Games will consist of two 20-minute halves. The clock will run continuously except for the last two minutes of each half. Overtime periods will be three minutes, and the clock will stop throughout. The gospel says that teams should arrive at least 10 minutes before their game time. If one of the teams is not present at game time, a single digit in its loss column will result. Game time is forfeit time n GT1 !!S.
