Show Tourism conference set for March 24-26 "Utah Tourism: The Backbone of Our Economy" will be the theme of the state's fourth annual Governor's Conference on Tourism March 24-26 24-26 at the Salt Lake Sheraton Hotel and Towers. The event is co-sponsored co-sponsored by the Utah Travel Council and the Utah Hotel Motel Association. "With tourism being Utah's number one industry, this conference is taking on greater importance," said Jim Braden, director of the Utah Travel Council. He said featured speakers will include Fred Adams, producing director of the Utah Shakespearean Festival; Betsy Bromberg, communication director of the American Hotel and Motel Association; and John McDermott, immediate past president of the Western chapter of the Society of American Travel Writers. Braden said that tourism industry members may make important contacts at the conference in addition to gaining information in seminars that range from risk management, marketing, developing a tour manuaj and government relations to tax planning, non-manipulative non-manipulative selling, travel trends and promotion on a shoestring. Registration deadline is March 18.
