Show : Rec. Dept. grabs second place in men's basketball league The Park City Recreation Department Depart-ment came from behind in the last minute of play to edge Cofer Chiropractic 46-45 last week at the Treasure Mountain Middle School to stay within striking distance of first place in the Men's Basketball League. The Rec Department, which trailed throughout the game, was paced down the stretch by Tim King, who scored six of his 10 points in the final three minutes. Courtland Nelson led the way with 16 points as the Rec Department improved its season record to 5-2, and' remained two games behind front-running Kamas Valley. Cofer, which saw its mark fall to 2-5, was led by Will Pearson and Bob Scheinblum, who scored 10 points apiece. In other league games, Kamas Valley won its seventh game without 4 a loss as it crushed Yarrow, 61-43, behind a 25-point effort by Bill Peterson. Terry Lambert added 17 points for the winners, while Ken Kester tallied 28 points for Yarrow, now 0-7 on the year. The Alamo, led by Rick Miller's 37 points, put on an offensive exhibition as it buried Texas Red's, 76-58, to take sole possession of third place with a 4-3 record. Miller got plenty of help from Jim Austin, who pumped in 19 points, and Mike Osher, whose talented passing game exploited the Reds' defense all night long. Red's, now 3-4 for the season, was led by Chris Uttich and Mike Hamill, who scored 22 and 20 points respectively. |
