Show i.-.-.-.regvi Boehm, Stewart are dedicated musicians ' It 1 r by JIM SMEDLEY Record staff writer It seems there is a correlation between bet-ween playing in a school band and playing football. At least, two of the Treasure Mountain Middle School's top seventh-grade musicians think so. Amber Boehm, 12, said she not only on-ly loves playing flag football, but also would play on the Park City High School football team if she was 1 good enough and got the chance. Tyler Stewart, 12, also is a flag football aficionado whose goal is to play for the Miners. , Although both like footall, their first love is music. Stewart plays a mean sax for the seventh- and eighth-grade band, while Boehm specializes in clarinet. "Both are very good additions to the band. Tyler is intent on what he is doing and for the most part is a pretty steady player," said band leader Bill Huhnke. . , . "Amber just comes in and does the job. Her professionalism has afr fected two people already and inspired in-spired them to do better," he saidL , "I could never build a band with just first-year players," he added. "It takes all kinds of players, contributing con-tributing at the best of their ability, to make a band. Amber Boehm has just enough time for a quick adjustment in between parts at band rehearsal. "Tyler and Amber are real good assets. They're committed and they will be here until they graduate." Stewart comes from a musical family. He said his grandfather, his father and his uncle all are musicians. musi-cians. Stewart's uncle, like his nephew, plays the saxophone. "I want to play music for the rest of my life," Stewart said. "Hopefully, "Hopeful-ly, I'll get in a group of some sort one that has a lot of solos for sax." Aside from the clarinet, Boehm also plays the piano and is learning li the saxophone. "The clarinet is my favorite. I enjoy en-joy moving my fingers over v the keys," Boehm said. "Faster music is more fun to play. My favorites in band this year are 'Carnival of Venice' and 'Frankie and Johnny."' Stewart said the band is competitive com-petitive and that there are constant challenges to see who sits in the first chair. And for the most part, if Boehm and Stewart are not in the first chair, they are certainly within arm's length of it.
