Returning players will bring strength to high school basketball team Below is a synopsis of the five players who started at one time or another last year and who are returning to the Park City High School boys' basketball team. Greg King: a 5-foot-ll senior weighing 150 pounds. He averaged averag-ed 7.8 points per game overall while shooting 32 percent from the field, 48 rebounds, 20 assists and 63 turnovers. He shot 66 percent per-cent from the foul line in scoring 35 points. King was the starting point guard last year who switched switch-ed off with Matt Mapstone. Head basketball Coach Paul Willard said he was a good ball handler, was quick and was a good penetrator. He was the offensive quarterback of the team and one of the more consistent defensive players. Scott Tatum: A 5-foot-ll senior weighing 150 pounds. He averaged averag-ed 8.2 points per game overall while shooting 47 percent from the field, 110 rebounds, 10 assists and 49 turnovers. He shot 50 percent per-cent from the foul line in scoring 33 points. Tatum was the starting center and played some at forward. for-ward. Willard said he had good quickness, was a good jumper and was strong inside. He also said Tatum had a tendency to get into foul trouble. "You can jump very well at 5-foot-ll and a guy 6-foot-5 can stand on his tip toes and give him all the trouble you want," Willard said. Bruce Buckner: a 5-foot-ll junior weighing 175 pounds. He averaged 10.3 points per game ; overall while shooting 41 percent from the field, 125 rebounds, 17 assists and 60 turnovers. He shot 56 percent from the foul line in scoring 47 points: Buckner was a starting forward who occasional-ly occasional-ly played center last year. Willard called him a strong player with great determination, "a real workhorse." He led the team in scoring in the second half of the season. ' 'nfo Todd Mullen: a 6-foot-l junior ' weighing 165 pounds. He averag-' ed 4.1 points per game overall while shooting 44 percent from the field, 76 rebounds, 5 assists and 27 turnovers. He shot 42 per cent from the foul line in scoring 11 points. Mullen played some center-and some forward but missed part of the season due to illness and a injured ankle. Willard said he would be factor on the team as long as ankle problems pro-blems did not recur. "Teff Keye: a 5-foot-ll sophomore weighing 155 pounds. He averaged 4 points per game overall while shooting 35 percent rl from the field, 61 rebounds, 4 assists and 16 turnovers. He shot 4 to ; percent from the foul line in scoring 14 points. Keye started 1 fialf of the games toward the latter lat-ter part of the season as a forward. for-ward. Willard said he was a good rebounder and was the most consistent con-sistent outside shooter. |
