Utah Opera Co. needs kids The Utah Opera Company is looking for children who are interested in auditioning for the Children's Chorus of Puccini's Puc-cini's "Tosca" to be presented in January 1984. The children must be between the ages of 9 and 15. General Director Glade Peterson also will be looking for a young boy to be cast in the role of Amahl from the traditional Christmas opera "Amahl and the Night Visitors" performed annually by the Utah Opera Company. These auditions will be held Aug. 17th and 18th in Studio 2 at the Capitol Theatre, 50 West Second South, Salt Lake City, Utah 84101. An accompanist will be provided. (721) Family planning The Park City Community Clinic, a nonprofit family planning plan-ning program, will hold clinics in the month of July. Appointments Appoint-ments are available for morning, afternoon and evening clinics. The services offered include: physical exam, PAP tests, ' counseling and education, VD screening, pregnancy testing and contraceptive supplies. Costs for these services are reasonable. (728) Herpes volunteers needed Volunteers are needed for a University of Utah Medical Center study on the treatment of genital herpes. The research team is studying the use of the drug interferon as treatment treat-ment for the first episode of genital herpes. Volunteers will receive injections of interferon every other day for 14 days on an outpatient basis. The substance is an investigational drug, but tests show it is well tolerated by humans. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Volunteers should call 581-8625 or 581-6791 during business hours. Women's soccer The Silver Kicks, Park City's representatives in Utah women's soccer, are beginning practices for the fall season. Journalism workshop Columnist Norma Lee Browning will teach a journalism workshop, "Behind the Byline," at the Kimball Art Center Aug. 15 through 26. The workshop will meet Monday, Wednesday Wed-nesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Newspaper reporting, report-ing, feature, magazine and book writing, and interviewing techniques will be included in the instruction. Photo-journalism at Kimball A photo-journalism workshop taught by photographer Russell Ogg will be held at the Kimball Art Center Aug. 15 through 26. The workshop will meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The workshop will cover a variety of topics, including the handling of camera and film, lighting, composition for color and black and white photos, comparison of news photography, commercial and advertising photography and an introduction to video camera equipment.
