Show Work off a pass at ParkWest Short of cash? Got some spare time on your hands? Need a ski pass? ParkWest may be able to help. The resort is again this summer offering locals a chance to work their way to a full season ski pass. In the past, skiers have jumped at the chance to help ParkWest clip trails, paint decks, fix fences, repair culverts and dig holes for signposts in exchange for a season pass. In fact, the program has been so popular that Chuck 'Folkerth, who heads up the ski patrol in the winter and is helping to organize this summer's work program, said that this year the resort will have to limit the number of applicants ap-plicants to fifty. The ski area will be hiring five people a day to work five day shifts, beginning this week. Folkerth said that interested parties can call the ParkWest business offices of-fices (649-5400) to leave a name and number. A staff person will call back. "We want to interview people before they come work for us this year," said Folkerth. "We want to know that they really intend to work, that they are not just there for a free pass." In addition to five days of work, applicants will still be asked to kick in $50 cash for the pass, which retails for $250. The $50 won't be due until the workers pick up their passes this winter, Folkerth said. Applicants must be 18 years old or older. |
