Chamber Member Profile by Shirley Smith Design Coalition even the name reflects the philosophy of the business David and Joanne Krajeski have created, a design and interiors shop specifically for the people of Park City that combines the elements of individual indivi-dual taste, good design and the uniqueness of our Park City environment. Five years ago, after working in California for a number of years in Interior Design and contract sales, David made the difficult decision to leave the certainty of a promising design future in the "big City" for a relatively unknown one in Park City. He was hired originally by the Greater Park City Co. to do all the design and furnishings for the series of condominiums being developed at that time. Two years later, when these projects were essentially completed, com-pleted, the Krajeskis decided to open the same sort of business on a personal level and offer services to individuals and small developers. develop-ers. Today one can see the Krajeski touch of good taste all over Park City, from the Ritz Cafe to the Blue Church Lodge, the Kimball Art Center to Le Pavillion, and in countless private homes and apartments. Located first at the resort center, Design Coalition moved to its new location in Mt. Air Mall several months ago to allow for display of furnishings, accessories accessor-ies and samples. People were not aware, said David, that the shop offered a full inventory of furnishings, draperies, carpets, wall papers and any and every accessory a home or office could want. With the new enlarged space browers, who are always welcome, and customers have a better idea of what the shop offers. Even the new showrooms do not begin to cover what is available from Design Coalition. Almost anything in the furnishings furnish-ings or accessories line that can be purchased in Salt Lake can be purchased from this local business, busi-ness, and David and Joanne encourage all Park City residents to stop in and familiarize themselves with this unique shop, open M-F 9:00 - 5:30 and by appointment on weekends. Many people, said David, think the shop might be "too much into design" and are reluctant to come in, but the Krajeskis have no intention of forcing "design" on anyone and everyone is encouraged encour-aged to exercise their own taste, whether it be in a $5.00 accent item or a $500,000 piece of furniture and the nice thing is that there is expert advice at hand if you desire it. With the move to Mt. Air Mall, a new shop was created in the original location, and Design Coalition Gifts, a joint venture between the Krajeskis and local resident Karen Coleman, offers quality gifts and accessories, many handmade locally, for both visitors and residents. New items, aimes mainly at the needs of permanent residents, such as kitchen items and dishes, are being constantly added and we appreciate the variety and quality these shops offer to the residents of Park City and value the membership of Design Coalition in the Park City Chamber of Commerce. |
