Show EDITORIAL Winteiof-Gur Content With the passing of Easter, the last busy time of the ski season, Main Street is quieter now than it has been for a while. Spring is very much in the air and soon the winter of 1977-78 will only be a memory. Although it will take some time to fully access what kind of a season it has been, the general consensus seems to be that this year will at least equal the record breaking prosperous 1975-76 season. Resort officials are smiling and local merchants have done well enough to put the disaster of last year's snow drought behind them. Figures released by Utah Job Service support the fact that the outlook for the local economy is good. Unemployment is down and new construction is booming. The outlook for the summer economy is equally bright. The Alpine slide which provided a big boost when it opened last summer, will be open this year for the whole summer season, and the Park City Holiday Inn will bring additional dollars into the town when it opens in mid-summer. In spite of the closing of the Ontario Mine, Park City's economic base seems as solid as it has ever been. This is good news for everybody and we only hope efforts continue to preserve the quality of life that has made this latest prosperity possible. |
