' Dean Black; Awarded Custody Of Children V ' Third District Court Judge .Bryant H. Croft ruled this week that because Shirley Black moved to Marion in October, of 1978 to become John Singer's second wife, it ; caused her first, husband,, Dean Black of Kamas "great mental distress." And, as a . result of her polygamous . "r relationship with John Sin- , . !r, ' ' .. . . ' V ... V ger, Mr. Black was given custody of his four minor children. The children, Brent, 14; Nancy, ,12; Grant, 10; and .Julie, 9, moved with Mrs. Black to, John Singer's -homestead last October. Brent, after a period of time, left to be with his father in Kamas. According to Judge Croft's memorandum, the two girls expressed a desire to remain with tljeir mother. Judge Croft further ordered order-ed that Mrs. Black could have reasonable rights of visitation, "but which shall not include daily visits." "In exercising such visitation,". visita-tion,". Judge Croft stated, "plaintiff (Shirley Black) is ordered not to1 teach the children her present existing beliefs concerning the doctrine doct-rine of plural marriage." Mrs. Black was awarded alimony amounting to $100 per month plus 20 percent of Dean Black's net monthly income in excess of $800. Shirley Black was also awarded six acres of land given to her by her parents. Mr. Black was awarded possession of the house in Kamas to be used by him and his four younger childr ren. Shirley Black testified last month in Third District Court in Coalville that should she be awarded custody of the children, she would move back to Kamas and enroll her children in public school. She also said she would reintegrate re-integrate the children in Church activities. Mrs. Black withdrew her children from public school last October when she moved to Marion to live with John and Vickie Singer. The children were enrolled in "High Uinta Academy," a private school established by John Singer over a year before he was shot and killed by a law enforcement officer on January Jan-uary 18, 1979. Shirley Black continues to live in Marion with Vickie Singer along with the seven Singer children. |
