Show Resort To Close May 6 Languishing in the midst of their most financially successful season, Park City Ski Corporation officials announced an-nounced this week that they will definately close the mountain for the season on Sunday, May 6. Because of jdiminsihing evening ticket sales, night skiing, was terminated for the season last Sunday. The Resort surpassed last year's total ticket sales on February 28 and every pass sold since has set a record. According to Craig Badami, Resort Marketing Director, . the Ski Corp. estimates they will close out the season . between 35 and 45 percent ahead of their previous best year. Badami said that they attribute the record season to early snow, expanded lodging lod-ging and convention facilities, facili-ties, plus the obvious fact that Park City has now become nationally known as ; a major destination resort. Despite their windfall profits, pro-fits, the Resort plans to up their ticket price to $14 next year. However, the price of - season passes and ten day coupon books will remain unchanged next seasom and further prico discounts will be offered to individuals who purchase passes before October Oc-tober 1. Badami said that most people who come to Park City from out of state are used to paying $14 and often times more for a daily lift ticket and he didn't feel that price was exceptionally high. He also said that they are purposely holding down the prices of coupon books and season passes for the benefit of Park City residents, who they want to encourage to ski as often as possible. , v "We feel we should give a break to Ideal skiers and we don't think the out-of-state skiers will mind paying a little extra," said Badami. During the summer, the resort plans to add more snow making equipment on the mountain as well as cut additional ski runs. They are also contemplating a major expansion of their .ticket office bulding, but have yet to finalize those plans. |
