Show Needy Students Get Free Lunches in New Park City Lunch Program The Park City schools serves well-balanced and nutritious meals every full school day. Students may purchase a meal for the regular low price of 25? in elementary and 30f in secondary. Other food programs pro-grams provided for students are also priced at a nominal figure. Since some families may find it extremely difficult to pay the full pricefortheirchild'slunch, the school provides lunches at a reduced price or free to children chil-dren who are unable to pay the full price. Children from families whose incomes are at or below those listed on the following scale, or have unusual circumstances, may make application ap-plication for a free or reduced price lunch. The income scale guidelines published by the Secretary of Agriculture July 1, 1971 are based on the latest statistics, as of July 1, 1971, on income pov- erty levels reported by the Census Cen-sus Bureau's Current Population Popula-tion Reports. "Income" means income before be-fore deductions for. income taxes, employees' social security sec-urity taxes, insurance premiums, prem-iums, bonds, etc. It includes the following: monetary compensation com-pensation for services, including includ-ing wages, salary, commissions, commis-sions, or fees; net income from nonfarm self employment; net income from farm self employment; employ-ment; social security; dividends or interest on savings or bonds, income from estates or trusts or net rental income; public assistance or welfare payments; pay-ments; unemployment compensations; compen-sations; Government civilian employee or military retirement, retire-ment, or pensions, or veteran's payments; private pensions or annuities; alimony or child support sup-port payments; regular contributions con-tributions from persons not living liv-ing in the household; net royalties, royal-ties, and other cash income. Criteria used in determining determin-ing eligibility for free or reduced re-duced price meals will be pub-lically pub-lically announced in a letter to parents and to the news media. a. Income scale, including welfare grants, reduced scale if used. b. Number of individuals in family. c. Number of children in the family attending school or service institutions. d. Unusual illnesses, seasonal sea-sonal work, unusual expenses, ex-penses, etc. (List on application applica-tion any items which will be helpful to school officials). If you meet the eligibility according ac-cording to the income scale and or other criteria, and wish to apply for a free or reduced price meal, fill in the application applica-tion and send or bring to the principal's office. Additional applications are available at the principal's office. Application may be made at any time. Every effort will be made to insure that all children are treated the same whether receiving re-ceiving free or reduced price meals, and will not be required: a. To use a separate lunchroom lunch-room or section of the lunchroom. lunch-room. b. To go through a separate serving line. c. To enter the lunchroom through a different entrance than is used by children who are paying the full price for meals. d. To . eat meals at a different dif-ferent time from payingxihil-dren. payingxihil-dren. e. To work for their meais. f. To use a different medium of exchange in the lunchroom than is used by paying children. g. To eat a different meal than is eaten by paying children. chil-dren. If application is made and it is denied, you may appeal to the Supt. of Park City School district dis-trict board of education, telephone tele-phone number 649-9671 and appeal ap-peal procedure will be given you. The school's policy concerning concern-ing reduced price and free meals is available in the office of the principal or in the office of the superintendent. |
