Show flutry Leader in Ski School Not every student can play on the football team or march in the pep club-two activities associated with spectator sports. Most students, however, can become involved in participation partic-ipation sports, like skiing, when Riven the opportunity to learn. That's the theory behind the Utah Ski Association's pilot ski school program at Cottoawood High School where students will receive physical education credit for taking a beginning skiing class. The first class meets January Jan-uary 27 from 1:05 p.m. to 2:40 p.m. at the high school. The class will feature equipment familiarization and basic instruction in-struction from Bob Autry of Park City West and Chick Morton Mor-ton and members of the Alta Ski School. Students will spend the next seven Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Park City learning how to ski. Bus transportation trans-portation to and from the school will be provided by the Granite School District. Dr. Reed Wahlquist, principal of Cottonwood High School said, We're glad we can offer both spectator and participation sports to our students. In the future we hope to be able to have an even wider selection of sports activities." H.G.Linford physical education instructor at Cottonwood High School, will supervise the students while at the resort. |
