" ' DARLENE DEAN who is two-thirds two-thirds Chippewa Indian assures Park City that the snow will be in great abundance for the First Annual Winter Festival February Feb-ruary 13 and 14. She has had a "feeling" and with an Indian, that means something! Ski movies to be shown at the Memorial Building Friday evening, Feb. 12 will start the Festival off. Saturday will be busy with snow sculpture, sleigh rides, the parade, children's events, dog sled races, races of various sorts for children and adults. At 6:30 there will be a roast beef dinner for $1.50 at ttw Memorial Building to be followed follow-ed at ,8 o'clock by either bingo at the Memorial Building or a visit to the Silver Wheel Theatre on Main Street. PROGRAMS for the Festival are to be sold at $1.00 a piece and each program will have a number on it which makes the holder a potential winner of the following items from the following local merchants: Alamo - Beer Burgers and Billiards, for two. Alpine Prospector - evening for two, of fun and beverages as the guest of Jim Carr. Arts & Craps - one oil painting. paint-ing. Bloom's - $ 10.00 (gift certificate), cert-ificate), also 1 pair of Antique Ice Skates. Bea's Canyon Lodge - One nights lodging for two. Blackout - one evening of drinks, food and entertainment, for two. Buffalo Grill -Dinner for two, "Cook your own steak." CAR 19 - Steak dinner for one. You must present your own program! Sunday will be equally exciting. excit-ing. From 9 a.m. to noon, Park City West will offer free children's chil-dren's ski lessons and skiing, while adults may, during- the same hours, go on guided tours of Park City West. At 10 a.m. a demonstration team of precision skiers will perform on the slopes at Park City West, and at 1 p.m. there will be Pro-Am NASTAR races. Noon on Sunday will be the finishing time for the snow sculpture in Park City so that by 2 p.m. the judges John Stagg, Dale Gibbs, Lyn Turner and Jennifer Giddings can make their decisions. These same judges will select the winner of the contest open to Park City merchants for the most unique trash receptacle which has been devised to keep Park City clean. Get busy, merchants! SUNDAY NIGHT AT 6 p.m. all of Park City will be able to see the big torchlightparade that will start at the Park City Resort and wend its way down to the Memorial Building. The Winter Festival Queen will reign over all the festivities of this big two-day affair. Final registration for the Queen Contest Con-test will be at the Park City Chamber of Commerce office on Main Street at noon on Friday, February 5. Judging will be at Park City West that night at 6 p.m. with drawing of the lucky boy's and girl's names, 7years old or under, to be Prince and Princess of the Festival as well as selection of the Queen. Park City is fortunate to have so many merchants and friends who cooperate at a time like this. The Adult events beginningat 4:30 Saturday afternoon include a Bar Tenders and Bar Maids Race. There is a charge of 50? to enter but cash prizes will be given winners in both classes. For the men: 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes of $25, $10 and $5; for the ladies winners $15, $10 and $5. The Sleigh Ride Race which is the first ever to be held in Park City will start at the Crazy Horse Saloon and will have prizes for the winners. The following Ten Commandments Command-ments of Snow Sculpture were used at the recent Winter Carnival in McCall, Idaho. We thought Park City might benefit. THE PARADE on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. promises to be a gala event. But the public is urged to remember that entries need NOT be elaborate elabor-ate . . . residents support for this parade is needed! Call the Chamber of Commerce for more details about entries. Swede Alley and Main Street will be the sight of the sleigh rides to be managed by Judd Flinders of Mt. Meadow Ranch and they will begin at 11 o'clock Saturday morning. Events will follow one after another until the Festival winds up at 8 o'clock Sunday evening at the Memorial Building with presentation of all trophies and awards. THE DOG SLED Races are |
