Show Dick Richards Has Nice Job Washington, D.C. -Chairman Bob Dole and Co-Chair man Thomas B. Evans Jr. today announced an-nounced the appointment of Richard Richards as Deputy Chairman of the Republican National Committee. His primary responsibility will be in the area of political organization. organ-ization. In a joint statement, Dole and Evans said, We are fortunate to have Dick Richards joining the National Committee staff in this key leadership position. He is a unique combination of youthful energy and political experience who has proven to be one of the most creative people in American politics. "Dick played a major role in the development of the Neighbors Neigh-bors for Nixon program in 1968 and was also instrumental in development of the Mission 70's program." Richards worked on Mission 70's, a program to strengthen Republican organizations in the states, during his tenure as director of the RNC's political division from August 1969 until June of 1970. Dole and Evans also noted that Richards was a highly successful suc-cessful Republican State Chairman Chair-man in Utah, where his party won 70 percent of all contested elections during his four-year chairmanship (1965-1969). Richards, 38, is a native of Ogden, Utah, and a member of the LDS Church. He andhis wife, the former Annette Bott, will reside in Silver Springs, Maryland, Mary-land, with their four children. The appointment is effective Monday. |
