Show Three Hunting Seasons Are Dated (or 1973 The Wildlife Board last week set three 1973 hunting seasons and one season opener at their meeting at the Divisionof Wildlife Wild-life Resources Salt Lake office. of-fice. This year's spring gobbler hunt will be from May 5 through May 20, a week later than normal because of the expected late spring this year. Bag limit is two males, and hunting can be done during daylight hours only. Biologists predict a lower success rate this year because last summer's drought resulted result-ed in poor production. The board set May 1 through October 19, 1973, as the bear season and November 1 through April 15, 1974, as the cougar season. A change in this year's proclamation requires stockmen stock-men to report kills within seven days to Division Conservation Officers enabling biologists to better manage the populations. Ray Staley, president of the Utah Woolgrower's Association, Associa-tion, requested the 7-day period after a 24-hour reportingperiod had been recommended by the Division. The proclamation also requires nonresidents to list names and addresses of their guides on a permit card. The 1973 pheasant hunt will open November 10. Season length will be determined in the i latter part of the summer after all biological data has been gathered. |
