Show Higher Elevation Snow Cover Drops Light snowfall athigher elevations during January and February has dropped snow cover and precipitation for the year to near or below average at all measuring stations, reports re-ports Jack Young of the United States Dept. of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service. Trial Lake, near Mirror Lake in the Uintas is 95 of normal with 67 inches of snow and 19.6 inches of moisture since October first. The average for March 1 is 20.7 inches of precipitation. Smith Moorehouse has 37 inches of snow with 10.1 inches of water. This is 100 of normal. nor-mal. Both upper and lower Reddon Mine are 105 of normal with 52 inches of snow and 16.3 inches of water at Upper Reddon mine and 49 inches of snow and 14.6 inches of water at Lower Red don mine. Beaver Creek ranger station has 28 inches of snow and 7.9 inches of moisture. This is 108' of average. Chalk Creek No. 1 has 61 inches of snow and 17.7 inches of water for 100 of average. Chalk Creek No. 2 has 44 inches of snow and 11.7 inches of moisture mois-ture for 105) of normal. Chalk Creek No. 3 has 31 inches of snow with 7.0 inches of moisture mois-ture for 111 of average. Soapstone ranger station has 35 inches of snow and 9.1 inches of moisture which is only 87 of normal. "Soil moisture is in good condition con-dition at all stations, but we need some good storms in the coming com-ing months to insure an adequate water supply for 1973", Jack stated. |
