Show SUSTAIN THE MAYOR'S VETO At the meeting of tho cKy council Inst night tho veto of tho mayor to the resolution formerly passed by the council providing for tho establishment establish-ment of two additional electric arc lights In each of the wards, under the direction of the cotincllmen of the wards, was sustained by a vote of 6 to 1, President drowning voting to sustain tho veto. C ouncil men Larson, Wilson and IMckson were not present and it re-rjulrou re-rjulrou a two-thirds majority vote of tbo council elected to pass a measure over the major's veto. The reason given by the chief executive execu-tive for his veto was ibat the resolution resolu-tion did not state where the lights were to be placed. He said if tho p!aces for the lights were designated he might he In favor of .some of them, and he might be absolutely opposed to others The mayor was at the council meeting meet-ing for a brief time and he took occasion oc-casion to call the attention of the council to the fact that he had been Informed that the first notice of intention inten-tion to open Hudson avenue, as pub lished In the newspapers, did not mention men-tion certain property that has since been taxed. He thought that another notice should bo published which should Include the property In question, ques-tion, so that the city would be on the safe side of the legal fence. This matter was referred to the law committee and the city attorney for adjustment, they to report to the council at an early date. |
