Show oo JOHN HOUSTON DEAD: A LIFETIME IN UTAH American Fork, Dec. 30 After on illness of but a few days, John Houston, Hous-ton, an old and highly respected citizen citi-zen of this city, died at his home here last night.' Ho had always been an exceptionally healthy and active man, and his death came as a severe shock t his family and relatives. Mr. Houston was in his seventy-fourth year. In 157 he came to Utah with Johnson's army, and Instead of returning re-turning with the troops he decided to stay here, and secured bis release. He was married In i860 to Mrs. Card ner. a widow with one child, and In 18C1 he came to American Fork, where he had resided ever alnce. Ho Jeaves three daughters tad threo sons to mourn their loss. Hln wife died a few years ago. Mr. Houston was well known, having taken an active ac-tive part In the upbuilding nnd development de-velopment of this city and county. He also held numerous positions of trust. Funeral services will be held in the Second ward chapel Monday. |
