An announcement was made today that Andrew Car- negie had given $1.2o0.nno for a Carnegie Car-negie ' foundation for lifo savers In Germany. The conditions nnd purposes of tho endowment are similar to those of tho "hero funds" previously established by the American financier and philanthropist phil-anthropist in the United States, England Eng-land and France. The annual proceeds will be used for the benefit of those who have been injured in the performance of heroic acts, in tho event of a hero's death, for the support of surviving dependents. A special provision is made for the education of the children chil-dren of those who havo sacrificed their lives.
