Show PEACE COMMISSION DEPARTS. Chihuahua Mex.. Dec. 2 (via El Paso, Dec. 3) A sec:al train bearing a eace commission of four members, appointed by President Diaz, left here tonight with aflag of true flying from the engine. The commissioners go to discuss with the revolutionary leaders lead-ers ways and means or bringing tho present disturbances to an end The letter from the President was received re-ceived today naming the following as commissioners: Judge Jos M. Danders. Dr. Garcia Cardenas and Senorez Amador and Santlaso Gonzales. All are prominent cltl.ens of thU city. The news of the appointment of a commission caused considerable surprise as It is said to be the firft time in thirty years that the government govern-ment has thus treated with insur-rectos. insur-rectos. The commissioners, aniens other things, will endeavor to ascertain Just what grievances afflict the revolu tionlsts. Terms of peace will be discussed dis-cussed and report made to the national na-tional capital. The insursgent will he given to undertand that If. they per-ist per-ist in bearing arms ngnlnst the government, gov-ernment, they will be given a lessen which will leave the state if Chihuahua Chih-uahua in peace for many years The departure of the commission had no clfect on the military preparations prepar-ations While waiting for reinforcements, the local troops have been thoroughly inspected and the work cf gathering supplies for a campaign proceeds dally. Water must be carried over much of the route. Scouts are in the hills dally. Occasionally they catch sljbt of small scouting parties of the enemy, but there has been no lighting since Tuesday at Pardenalles. Forty of the government troops who were In that fight and who escaped are reported ns entering this city by a circuitous route to avoid the Insurgents. In-surgents. Two troops of the government fore- es from Sonora, marching In the ill- recllon of Guerrero, which is now held by fl.xtylivc regular, were reported at Baliopas today. They still have about ten days marching ahead of them, providing they do not encounter tho revolutionists before reaching their destination. I Hcavv patrols are marching through the streets here. It is largely a precaution pre-caution against an uprising of revolutionary revo-lutionary sympathizers within the city. There Is no doubt that should the insurgents in-surgents now in the mountains succeed suc-ceed In gaining the city they would find many ready to Join them |
