Show SERIES OF LECTURES IN OCDEN. Have you heard of the ''Emmanuel Movement?" During the coming week Rev. Dr. Shields, one of the leaders in the movement, will give a series of lectures in the Church of the Good Shepherd in Ogdon. He will explain what it means, and we feel free to advise the church people of this city to attend those lectures! Any one with faith in any religion can be benefited by listening listen-ing to an expounder of the "Emmanuel Moverant;" any one with faith can apply the "religious cure" in the treatment of their bodily ailments, and that is why all persons of religious temperament should 1 hear Rev, Shields. The mind is a mighty factor for good or bad, physically as well as morally, in man. There are those who suffer principally from the mind who, professing a religious belief, can set their minds in order by trusting to the consolation which is to be found in faith. There are others, both depressed in spirits and enervated in body, who, by allowing their minds to be receptive of that which is elevating and cheering, can so tone up their entire physical organism as to completely com-pletely regain health. This is particularly true of those afflicted of neurasthenia. Nearly all nerve disorders, except in cases of destruc- tion of nerve systems, will yield to mind power, or what is sometimes some-times defined as physical agencies. There is nothing of the mysterious or unexplainable in this movement. move-ment. It is simply making the most of the power of the soul, or the mind, on the intelligence whatever you please to term it to stimulate stim-ulate every natural function of the body. By means of a trustful, cheerful dispositon, superinduced by prayer, or reason, or faith, wonderful won-derful cure3 have been brought about, and the church, recognizing this, has begun the Emmanuel movement, which is the application of the religious spirit in overcoming, or helping to overcome, disease. |
