Show URGEST AUTO PARADE n The largest and most successful ati-1 tonioblle parade ever held in the city I of Ogden was given last night as an auspicious climax to the first day's meeting of the Good Roads association. associa-tion. The parade marled from the corner of Washington avenue and Twenty-fifth street at 7:20. a hundred ' motor cars falling into line as the start was made. To the spectators the mile of automobiles auto-mobiles with glaring lights, streaming Hags and tooting horns was a most picturesque and Imposing spectacle. And every honk-honk blown by the auto au-to drivers was a signal for better roads. The parade was lead by the citv fire department chemical auto, driven by lire Chier A. U. Canfleld. The cars first circled on Washington avenue north and without excccdlu? the speed limit pushed west on Twenty-fifth street to the Union depot, where they again circled and returned lo Washington avenue. A loop was made south on Washington avenue and on the return the cars continued north on the avenue to the Fair Grounds. It Is estimated that the vehicles carried car-ried rive hundred people into the Fair I grounds, where thev became Ihe guests of Dr. H. M. Rowe. president of ; the Four-Slate Fair association. Tho cars drove out upon the race course,-and course,-and so great was the number that the first cars, after they had rounded the track, waited in n group for the autos still pouring Into the circle to ' clear the way for exit. I The automobile parade was given I under the special supervision of J. N. Spargo. P. A. Kohn and II. J. Pe-e-ry, the committee appointed at a recent re-cent meeting of the (iooil Roads association. asso-ciation. Cards were sent out by thin committee to every automobile owner in Ogden, asking htm to participate. and it is believed that but few failed to respond. All members of the Ogden Og-den Automobile club were asked to f!y the dub pennant from their cars and the complying with the request added much to the beauty of the parade. pa-rade. It is expected that the entire nurn-ber nurn-ber of automobiles in the parade will turn out again on Monday when the trip by the delegates to see the naif mile of good rond made south of the city. It Is hoped that Ibis trip will show even a larger number of auto- mobiles than were In line last eight. |
