Show DISEASE IS TRACED TO KEENER Sanitary Inspector Poulter was advised ad-vised this mornng by Dr. Joyce that Helen Tracy, daughter of Peter F, Tracey. of 1323 Twenty-fifth street, had been taken down with smallpox. The case was Immediately quarantned and every precaution taken against infection In other localities where the young lady had been accustomed to going di'rlng tho last few days. Miss Helen Is a student of the Sacred Sa-cred Heart Academy, and her parents, as soon as they were told by the physician phy-sician that the girl had smallpox, informed in-formed the school. As a result, the school was thoroughly fumigated yesterday yes-terday afternoon, and every student was instructed to disinfect and use every other safeguard against the development de-velopment of tbe disease. "This is a case that comes from the Keener infection," suld Mr. Poulter today, "and tho first one that we know of. The Keener place Is being fumigated fumi-gated today and the quarantine will be raised this evening. I shall push the prosecution against Keener for his violation of the quarantine laws of the city. He has been arrested on the charge, but the case has been in abeyance abey-ance pending the quarantine under which he was placed at the time of his arrest. 1 feel that It is my duty to take stringent steps to hold this disease in check and eradicate It from tho city." Jt is said that the case of smallpox of which Miss Tracy suffering Is mild and that no serious results will follow. |
