Show CHILEAN CRUISERS RUSHING TO RESCUE OF IMPERILED Ancud, Chile, Feb. 14. The Chilean cruiser MlnUtro Zenteno and five steamers of the Pacific Navigation company are racing south today in tho desperate hope that thoy may save the 68 persons who, when last reported, re-ported, were clinging to the 6tern of the British steamer Alma, as the vessel ves-sel was pounding herself to places on a reef in tho Huamblln passage in tho Strait of Magellan. Two hundred and live persons were taken from the wreck by the British steamer Hatumet, under difficulties which finally compelled the Hatumet to abandon the work of rescue. Four of the Hatumot's crow sacrificed their lives before their captain commanded his crew to cease their efforts. |
