Gil Ion and represented that hu Is the oihclal photographer for tho Utah State Fair association and that be had been sent out by the officers of the association to get photographs. pho-tographs. He called on Superintendent Mills of the city schools yesterday, and told bim that tho Statv Fair association desired photographs of tho city school buildings, and be asked the superintendent superin-tendent If there would be any objection objec-tion to his taking photographs. Mr. Mills told the man that he had a perfect per-fect right to take photographs of tbo school buildings, but that he would not bo permitted to take photographs of the children or solicit the sale of tho photographs among the school children. The photographer was also advised that bo could not take pictures pic-tures of tbo departments of the schools, nor any part of the Interior of the buildings. Gillon made his way to tho Madison Madi-son and the Dee schools yesterday afternoon and told the principals that tho superintendent had authorized him to take photographs of the schools and tho various departments, with the children in them. In tho interests of tho State fair. On this representation representa-tion he was permitted to line up the children and get pictures of them. In finishing the work at the schools ho incidentally told the teachers and the children that they could get a picture for 15 cents. This morning the man visited the Plngree school, but the principal questioned ques-tioned the authority ho claimed to have from Superintendent Mills and called Mr. Mills by telephone for Information In-formation In the meantime tho superintendent sup-erintendent had heard of the man's misrepresentations at the ethpr schools, and tho Pingreo school principal prin-cipal was Instructed to turn down the photographer. This was done immediately immed-iately and tho fellow said he would go to the Five Points school, but tho teachers there' were advised to not permit him to take photographs, so whtn he reached there he found that his plans had been thwarted. Superintendent Mills telephoned to tho State fair officers at SaJt Lake. They stated that they knew of no such person and that Gillon was an Impostor. No authority had been given giv-en any ouo to take photographs for tho State Fair association. This Information In-formation was dispatched to the police po-lice frtallon hero, and olllcers were sent on the trail of Mr. Gillon. Up to a late hour this afternoon, however, how-ever, he had not been apprehended It is presumed that when ho fully appreciated hia dilemma, he made his way to Hot Springs and took a train from that point to parts unknown. |
