Show FORTY DEAD li HI BIRMINGHAM. Ala., April 21. Of the forty men entombed In the Mulga mine of tho Birmingham Railway, j Coal and Iron company, at Mulga, Ala, by an explosion at 3 o'clock last night, It Is believed all are dead. The cages In the shaft of the mine were so badly sprung by tho forco of the explosion they are useless, and all other means adopted by rescuo ; parties In an effort to reach tho en-' en-' tombed men have proved futile. There are llfteen white and twenty-five n-gro n-gro laborers In the mine. Following the explosion flames shot up tho mine shaft four hundred feet, and the ground Is covered with charred timhers, which were blown up from the bottom of a 350-foot 6haft by tho explosion.
