McGulnness has resigned his position po-sition as manager for the Western Union Telegraph office of this city, the resignation to take effect February 1gth The officials have accepted the resignation with regret, expressing the best, wishes of the company. Mr. MeOuiunesi Is among tho oldest old-est telegraphers of the country, he having been in the srice for 33 years. He began his career as a telegraph operator in England when a mere boy, after which he came to this country, where he has held responsible re-sponsible positions in telegraph offices. of-fices. He .was in the employ of tnc government of the United States for six years and also operated in tho offices' of-fices' of New York. Pittsburg. St Louis, Omaha, Denver and other large cities. He has had charge of the Western Union's office In Ogden for 20 years, during which time he and his family-have family-have formed strong ties of friendship He is leaving tho service here to accept ac-cept a position In the San Francisco office of the Western Union company. The western divisions of the service are at Ogde and Denver. It l not definitely known who will be appointed to succeed Mr. McGulnness McGuln-ness as manager In tho Ogden office, hut it will likely be announced within the next few days, Mr. McGulnness and family will move to Son Francisco to take up their permanent residence Immediately Immediate-ly after the 16th of this month. |
