Show SPECTACULAR FIRE IN A BOSTON FACTORY B'Slon, Feb. 9. A spectacular fire. T.hlch lighted up the country for miles around ami necessitated ringing In lour alarms early tblm morning, dent de-nt n-yed the six story manufacturing p'ent of the New England Rendering i-ompany and an Immense cattle slfd of the Armour company at Brighton fibbattoir. The Iobs is estimated at $7GO,oon. Thi- fire started in the glue factory oi the rendering company and quickly quick-ly swept through the building, fed by the great store of Inflammable products. Fearing tho fire would spread lo nearby cattle sheds of of Armour Packing company, whlcb aro valued at half a million dollars, three additional alarms were turned In. The cattle in tho sheds were turned i lcose and 400 head were soon running v.ild up aud down the yards, impeding the work of firemen, who, however, i! ;mi a tred to confine the blazo to ono cattle shed. Officials of tho rendering render-ing company stated that the loss on their plant would be fully $700,000 i, s hie machinery was very valuable end there was a large stock of goods on hand. The loss on the cattle sheds was given as $50,000. Tho cause of the fire has not been determined. |
