Presldont Gardner Is of the conviction convic-tion that the legislators are the servants ser-vants of the people and that it is their duty to lose no time in the transaction transac-tion of business that may come before the senate. This idea will undoubtedly undoubted-ly be carried out in its entirety. The legislature will convene again today at 2 o'clock In the afternoon. LEGISLATURE HELD SHORT SESSION 1 ADJOURNMENT MADE ACCOUNT OF GOOD ROADS CONVENTION One Bill Passed in Senate Lincoln's Birthday Hereafter to Be Observ-I Observ-I ed as Legal Holiday. The state legislature convened yesterday yes-terday afternoon at 2 o'clock, but the sessions in both houses were very brief. The house transacted no business busi-ness -whatever, adjourning immediately immediate-ly after roll call so as to give the members mem-bers who desired an opportunity to attend at-tend the Good Roads convention, which convened shortly after 2 o'clock. It was confidently expected that Speaker Speak-er Robinson would announce the personnel per-sonnel of the different committees, but all who entertained this idea were doomed to disappointment. The speaker speak-er made no mention whatever of the matter. President Gardner of the senate, immediately im-mediately after that body had convened con-vened announced that he had decided upon his committee appointments and they were announced. The appointments appoint-ments will be ready for the press today. to-day. The senate proceeded with tho consideration of one bill which was passed. The bill provides that February Feb-ruary 12 shall hereafter be designated as a legal holiday in Utah, and be observed ob-served as such. This is the date of Abraham Lincoln's birth. The prospects are that the present legislature will be a busy, business like one and that the people's repre- |
