Show OGDEN THE LOGICAL PLACE FOR THE 1910 WOOLGROWERS' CONVENTION. Wyoming Delegation Will "Boost" for Ogden Painter En Route to Pocatello. Thomas Painter, familiarly known as "Tom" Painter, one' of the prominent promi-nent woolgrowers of Evanston, Wyo , stopped over In Ogden last night while on his way to the Woolgrowers' National Na-tional convention at Pocatello. Mr. Painter is quite enthusiastic over the idea of bringing the next convention to Ogden and he took some pains to Btate that the Wyoming delegation delega-tion would be very certain to "boost" for Ogden. "Ogden is the logical place for the convention," he said. It is the most central point for the sheepmen in tho entire mountain region and is tho easiest eas-iest city reached. It is the Junction City of the whole western country, the h-ub of the railroad systems of the west And, besides, it is headquarters headquar-ters for the forest service of the Unit- n.iU niiitn ine sneepmen of the country have much to do. I am glad to learn that Salt Lake dologates aro in the right frame of mind and are willing to do-all in their power to bring the next convention to Ogden. It is a mighty handy place and we will all be glad to oomo hero next rear and transact the business of the wool-growers wool-growers national organization. Ogden Og-den is surely the place for that convention." con-vention." Mr. Painter stated that the weather .In Evanstois, is remarkably mild for ttiia season of year, there being considerable con-siderable raln fall there within the last few days. He thinks, however, that there is considerable snowfall In the mountains near the city. It lg generally understood that Mr. Painter will referee the contemplated fitfht between Johnny Thompson and Peter Sullivan, which Is scheduled to occur in Pocatello tomorrow night TheBo two men have fought before, Sullivan getting a decision over Thompson in the first Instance and Thompson being declared, the winner in the 6econd fight, which occurred at tho Utah Hot Springs last year, only I a few miles north of Ogden., Because of these even honors the flcht arranged ar-ranged for tomorrow flight n.t Pocatello carries with It unusual interest to fight fans. Mr. Painter stated to the Standard representative that his name had been mentioned as tho possible referee for tho fight and that It was quite likely ho would bo chosen at the ringside. He would give no opinion as to the ruallflcations of tho two ladd fuTthor than to fay that they are both good, live men who will, no doubt, give an Interesting flstlo exhibition. The fight Is scheduled for 20 rounds and It was thought by Mr. Painter that the fight would not be finished moch short of that number of rounds if tho men aro in the best of condition, and "of course," said he, "barring accidents." acci-dents." Mr. Painter remained in Ogden until 2:25 this morning, when Journeyed on to Pocatello. |
