Local bears took advantage of the situation sit-uation and pounded the market vigorously vigor-ously the first quarter of an hour, but were unable to force prices below the j opening level, which was from 1-4 cent above to 5-$(&3-4 below the previous j ; rlose. The attempt was made futile by the support given the market by I the principal bulls who took-all-offer- f ings. . . . The market continued somewhat nervous tho first half of the day, but tho liberal purchases of tho big holders gradually started covering by shorts, which eventually resulted in sharp upturns up-turns In the price of all deliveries. |
