O , March 11. An interesting inter-esting story ig related here in connection connec-tion with the announcement of the appointment ap-pointment of Attorney W. Warrington, as tlie late Judge J. K. Richards, successor suc-cessor on tho United States circuit court bench. According to this story, when General Harrison was chosen president, he offored Warrington a place on the federal bench. Warrlng-to Warrlng-to declined the honor and asked President Pres-ident Harrison why he did not appoint I "Will Taft." President Harrison did , so, and from the Jate of that appointment, appoint-ment, Taft has been in the government service. Warrington received a telegram from President Taft yesterday informing inform-ing him of his appointment as Judge Richards' successor. I |
