Show WILL BE IN OGDEN ON TUESDAY CHIEF FORESTER GIFFORD PIN CHOT TO VISIT HERE. Matters of Importance to Be Considered Consid-ered Laying of Forestry Building Cornerstone Anticipated. Chief Forester Glfford Plnchot, ot the United States, is making a tour of the Western states in the Interests of the Forest Service. He Ik now In Colorado and will bo in Utah within the next few days, advices received hero Indicating that he will visit Ogden, Og-den, which is headquarters lor the forestry services of the intermounlain eectlon of country, next Tuesday, March 23. His visit to Ogden Is one of considerable con-siderable importance not only because of the forestry interests, but because of the fact that the state land board will be called to meet him here and decide upon paramount questions regarding re-garding tho location of state lands and also to confer with the chler pertaining per-taining to proposed changes in the forest boundaries and the consideration considera-tion of all complaints that may be entered en-tered regarding the forest reserves already al-ready established. One of the big questions to be considered con-sidered at the conference between Chief Pinchot and the land board 13 the renewal of an agreement whereby timber may bo taken from the forests of the Ftate, under proper restrictions. Another big question that will como in for consideration is that concerning the grazing privileges to be given in the forests. On this particular question, ques-tion, Mr. Plnchot desires to hear irom the cattle and sheep men of Utah and adjoining states. With all these Important Im-portant questions coming up lor a hearing it Is very certain that Mr. PInchot's visit in the city will be a I momentous one and one that will j bring a goodly number of stock raisers J to the city. While in the city Mr. Pinchot will be the special guest of the Ogden Weber club, which organization is making ample preparation for his entertainment. en-tertainment. He will be banqueted at the club rooms and It is expected that at that banquet the distinguished visitor will outline the policy of the Interior department regarding the operations in vogue and those pro-losed pro-losed along the line of protecting the forests of the country, and also in relation to the protection of the water sheds of the West and tho conservation conserva-tion of the waters for the benefit ot the arid lands. It Is al60 contemplated that the laying of the "corner-stone of the proposed forestry building, which is to be constructed con-structed on the corner of Twenty-fourth Twenty-fourth street and LIucoln avenue, will occur under auspicious ceremonies, u Is not known just how long Mr. Plnchot Pln-chot will remain in the state, hut while he is in Utah most of his time will be spent in Og len. |
