Small declines de-clines were tho rule today m the opening open-ing quotations for stocks, but thero was a sprinkling of gains of which the most prominent was Union Pacific with a rise of 1-41 Atchison and Missouri Mis-souri Pacific declined largo fractions. Stocks were sold freely, and this caused sharp inroads on prices, but tho supporting orders, which were put In, resulted In a sharp upturn. Tho decline cost St Paul, Atchison, Southern South-ern Pacific, Oreat Northern preferred. , Kansas & Texas, Amalgamated Copper, Cop-per, United States Steel and International Interna-tional Paper preferred 1. The rebound re-bound put prices above last night's close. Reading was bid up 1 1-4, but met such heavy selling that it was driven back again.
