Show DR. VANCE'S DAILY ARTICLE 4 BY DR. JAMES I. VANCE. Founder of Inter-Church World Movement Move-ment and Chairman, Federal Council Coun-cil of Churches of America. I spent last week with my dentist. Ho Is most skillful in his profession', and does honest work. I have thought that if thoro is nny raan who ought to ho honest enough for men to trust him In the dark. It Is a dentist. Several years under this man's treatment treat-ment have convinced me that he is in this class. I was interested In his creed, for what a man helicves climhs Into his character and work. The Cod a dentist worships must have something some-thing to do with the kind of work he does. Said the dentist: "A man's mouth is all the argument T need for God's existence. Sixteen teeth above ami sixteen below stnrt toward to-ward each other.v They must live and work logothor for a life timo. They must fit Into each other to the minutest minut-est measurements. Misfit the thicr ness of the thinnest layer of tissue paper would work discomfort and disaster. dis-aster. But the crowns are made bo-fore bo-fore tho tooth piece the gums, and tho conformation is not changod In tho slightest particular after they emerge. Made back there In God's laboratory of life, these teeth which have never seen each other, meet and the fit is porfoct. This goes on in millions of human mouths, and In the animal life below man, and the Mastor Dentist never makes a failure. His work is all tho moro amazing in that He never makes two sets of teeth alike. A man's mouth Is sufficient ovidence to me of the truth of the Psalmist when he said: 'The fool hath said In his heart, Thore is no God.' " It was a new argument to me, and yet it was just a foaturo of the old argument. The world Is packed with design. God's footsteps arp everywhere. every-where. Tho strange thing Is not that, people should believe thero is a God, hut that they should over believe anything any-thing else. Ho who knows what Is in his mouth and can bcllovo that chance made his molars is gullible enough lo surronder to any delusion. Ho who misses the ovidence of design on every hand lives in a fog bank. Nothing walks with aimless foot. Earth Is crammed with lioavon. Even so prosaic a thing as teeth proclaim an Invlsiblo and unerring unerr-ing power back of existence. "Some call It evolution, others call u God. |
