Show 00 Fire Extinguished Before Damage Done An empty phonograph crate, filled with waste paper, was aot afire through some unknown agency at the rear of tho Glen Brothers storo on Hudson avenue, between Twenty-fifth and Twenty-fourth streets, last night, for a time threatened to cause a disastrous dis-astrous fire. The fire department wa3 called to the scene when a pedestrian reported smoke coming from the rear of the building, arriving In time to prevent the fire from spreading. The crate was packed beneafh a wooden staircase, and would havo Caused a fierce conflagration had It happened a few hours later, tho firemen fire-men said. - |
