Show TWO STEAMERS I ELUDE U BOAT I Liner Saved by Vessel Which Chased Submarine Out to Sea. AN ATLANTIC PORT. June 4. The Mallory liner Sable from Tampa to H New York with forty passengers came H in here today and reported that she H met a submarine yesterday between H Charleston and Frying Pan shoals lightship. Another vessel came to the H rescue of the liner and chased the submarine sub-marine out to sea. H The Merchants' and Miners' steam- H er Nantucket also arrived here today having been warned that enemy submarines sub-marines were in the vicinity of the H lightship H In addition seven members of the crew were landed at the Inlet wharf H by a coast guard lifeboat. The con- H slated of Martin Carroll of Newark, H N. J., and six Porto Ricans. H The men tarried long enough to say H they "had a touch time" and then they whisked off to the coast gruard station H where they were supplied with much H needed food. H |
