Word went around unofficially on the house side of the capltol today that Representative Representa-tive Carter Glass of Virginia, chairman of the- banking and currency committee, commit-tee, had been chosen by President Wilson Wil-son to become secretary of the treas-Members treas-Members of the house said the ap-, ap-, pointment had been authorized by the ! president before he left the country and 'was held up only pending Mr. Glass' acceptance. When asked for a statement, Representative Glass said: "At this moment I don't find myself In position to say whether I would or would not accept the position if invited to do so. I would rather not say anything any-thing on the subject of whether the position po-sition has been offered me." |
