Show 181 BOYS ARE TO DEPART FROM OGDEN AT 9 P. M, ON AUG. 28, IN RESPONSE TO NATION'S CALL Instructions for the departuro of tho big August quota for Camp Lewis wore received today by both city and county draft boards. The former will send 175 men and the latter six men. Tho special carrying tho soldiers will leave Ogden at 9 p. m., August 2S, and will arrive at Camp Lewis at ft a. m. August 30. Since the departure of these men represents tho biggest draft the city and county has filled and will take more young men out of Ogden than at any other llmo it has been suggested that tho citizens take it upon them- selves to celebrate the day in patriotic fashion. Flags and bunting ought to be displavcd on houses and buildings, automobiles au-tomobiles decorated and other marks of respect shown to the men who will leave. This draft will virtually exhaust tho "surplus" of Ogden's young men, taking tak-ing all of class one except a handful kept a little longer because of industrial indus-trial necessity. It will bo the city's final contribution to the war of the men who, through circumstance, were subject to first call, and suggestions have been made on all sides that it be observed in fitting fashion. |
