Show RED CROSS WORKERS STAY UNTIL CALLED WASHINGTON, Aug. 14 President Wilson today expressed the hope that Red Cross workers within tho proposed new draft ages, IS to 45, "will continue contin-ue to ronder service unless and until specifically called to other and more important duty." In a letter to Henry P. Davidson, chairman of the Red Cross war council, the president wrote : "I hope that the action we have taken tak-en in tho matter of voluntary enlistments enlist-ments will help a little in the solution of tho difficulties created for the American Red Cross by the probable extension of the draft ages. If the government does the selecting, it can select with a due regard to the inter- ests of all services, whether within the government or without, where if wo permitted men liable to be drafted to rush in and apply for and obtain commissions thero would be chaos Indeed." |
