JW ing ammunition up to the front ev- j tj ery night The night of the 14th July t jfi wo took two loads up and on the last jl ja load we wero up in No Man's Land at mm daylight, and we sure got somo ride. 11 jl We had to get right out in the open lljjW with our ammunition in order to un- jj I1IL load it and believe me we did not lose !; jffl any time. I was riding a pair of swing jj horses and my off horse fell in a I shell hole. The caisson upset upon jj him and the off wheoler was stand- ll ing straddle of him. But wo got out all right in about five minutes. Wo ; were not there long enough for the j Germans to get tho range. All day Jj and night wo wero under heavy shell I fire and I did not get any sleep. When It one of those shells hits it makes a JJ hole that you could put six horses J In and, says, they were lighting around 'ill us. Tho things, when they aro com- .1 Ing, sound like a flock of ducks fly- I I ing. So you see this is the life. 1 "I was talking with ono of the boys l in the machine gun company and ho II said that his company on the 14th N and 15th sure got away with a whole ll lot of Germans. Everytlme the Ger- jj mans start anything they sure get jj their foot in it. That's the way it has II been since I have been over hore.
