Show BERT LYTELL st mmm We've had an epidemic of crook plays lately from various producers and some of them have been good, but it seems that "Boston Blackie's Little Pal" at tho Utah today has a little edge on most of them, because in addition to having the mystery- i suspense stuff nicely developed, DIrec- tor "Mase" Hopper has dressed up , many familiar situations effectively by planting little individual incidents and . some delightful romantic touches and 1 has given us a real heart-Interest wal- j lop in the scenes between Bert and lit- tie Joey Jacobs comes down the stairs and discovers him, and they soon be- ! COnli VerV. VPrV mill. tnnlmrl in' j each other. At a risk of being caught, I Bert takes th2 littlo fellow upstairs again and amuses him until he falls asleep. Just as ho is about to resume work at tho safe, he gets a warning signal from his sweetheart, whq is stationed outside, and concealo himself him-self just as Joey's mother and her lover enter, Bert learns from the conversation con-versation that she is planning to take advantage of hor husband's absence to elope with this man. and when she opens the safe and gives the lover her jewels to keep until they meet later, i Bert slips out of the window and posing pos-ing as the husband, whom the willun-lovar willun-lovar has never seen, pulls a bluff, and ' demands the jewels, which aro I promptly turned over. I Returning to his sweetheart and relating re-lating his experience, Bert tells her to return to the house and take good care of little Joey, and then we see him sending two telegrams, one addressed ad-dressed to tho husband from the wife, asking him to return and ono to tho' wife from willun, .tolling, her that ho Is through with her. They pull a unique finish bv fading I out on Bert looking at the jewels and I i wondering whether or not to return li I them, after which they give us a title 1 j saying: "If you were 'Blackic,' how jj I would you decide?
