Show COW CLERK II LICENSE AGENT FDR EXPLOSIVES County Clerk C. M. Ramey has been appointed government explosives licensing li-censing agent, according to a communication commun-ication received by him this morning from Van H. Manning, director of the bureau of mines, department of the interior. in-terior. The appointment comes as a result of the act approved by congress October 6, 1917, which makes necessary neces-sary the securing of a government license li-cense for the use or possession of explosives. ex-plosives. County Clerk Ramey will assume as-sume the duties of the new position immediately. The act of October 6 provides that vendors, manufacturers, foremen or individuals in-dividuals desiring to purchase explosives explo-sives for legitimate purposes must secure se-cure a federal license. This does not pertain to small arms ammunition. In licensing users of explosives the government gov-ernment proposes to keep a close watch on the use of all powder and other elements which might .be used for illegitimate purposes, as in making mak-ing bombs or doing damage against the interest of the country. All dealers in explosives will be expected ex-pected to give a detailed report to Mr. Ramey of any transaction involving explosives and he in turn will compile a monthly report to submit to the government. |
