Show ' Chicago Qeofafens v J CHICAGO, Oct. 14 Sensational advances ad-vances in the price of corn today made dealers forget in a hurry transient sharp declines which at the opening of business h;fd resulted from the German Ger-man note replying to inquiries of President Wilson. Bearish action of the corn market instead of an advance had been generally gen-erally looked for, but the extreme decline de-cline shown was only four cents, a break which for a war-time market was not unusual. Trading on the break was lively, though by no means one-sided and the market was rallying rally-ing -when announcement that the United Uni-ted States government was to purchase pur-chase large quantities of corn, November Novem-ber and December delivery, led to a rush to tho bull side. Then values went soaring In earnest and quickly reached 9a cents above the carlv low noint. Opening prices, which ranged from 1 to 4c lower, with November $1.11 to 1.12 and December $1.09 to 1.11. were the minimum. Recoveries before be-fore tho government buying program was made known amounted to 22c Oats swayed with corn. Changes however, did not exceed ordinary limits. lim-its. After opening unchanged to c net lower the market rallied to well above Saturday's finish. Provisions displayed an upward bent from the ouLseL Pork rose the max , iuium allowed for a single day. Nevertheless the announcement an-nouncement that the government was in the market as a liberal buyer continued con-tinued to be the dominating factor.
